Nerd Gear: Batteries & Battery Holders

My friend NanMan was casting TL Open today and had his mouse battery die, took him a minute to get new batteries for it, made me think about some of the gear I know about and/or use because I am a Flashlight Geek.  [Christmas Gift suggestion, I got this cute little Fenix E05 in purple as one of the Birthday presents for my girlfriend, she loves it, & has used it already once when out shopping and the power went out in entire store. This light uses AAA batteries, only has a low level setting but is small and light weight.  Fenix is a high end brand, think like a Das keyboard for quality.]

Using a battery case, sometimes called a spares carrier, to keep your batteries in does several useful things.

It keeps them organized, so you know where they are, a Simple battery case like that one can sit on your desk near Monitor so you can grab them in a hurry.

While a more Durable Battery case can go in your backpack or Gaming bag, keeping the batteries close together and protected.  That also protects your other gear, if batteries get abused to much they can leak, getting acid all over your stuff!

My favorite spares carrier for AA or AAA batteries are these designed for Pilots, they are available in different colors, so you can color code by battery size.  That way you can tell at a glance if your grabbing AA or AAA.

I will do more posts on batteries & related if people are interested.  Lot of really cool Nerd stuff IMO.
