2011 IPL 3 Stephano vs TheSTC

Go Stephano!

Spoiler Alert [just some comments and thoughts this time.  To much lag and black screen to really follow the game 1 T_T]

Game 1

HD doesn't sound like he understand much about Stephano's buid.  The Evo's serve multiple uses at the same time.

They are used to narrow choke, which is what HD mentions, but they also provide air defense and detection if he needs it, he also goes fast ups (since Zerg units are cheaper generally than the other races they have resources to get upgrades sooner.  Also because most zerg units are cheaper and get traded frequently, so he gets a lot better return on the resources he spends on early upgrades).

Horrible lag and black screen, I think Stephano won.

Yes Stephano won!

Stephano leads 1-0

Game 2

Stephano does really good creep spread, but he also positions all, or at least most, overlords with a goal in mind.

Not only does he have a forward picket line of Ovies to spot incoming drops, he also puts Ovies behind Mineral lines (he did this for Main and Natural at least) to give vision for Queens & Infestors to take out Medivacs.

Stephano wins Game 2.

Stephano leads series 2-0

Game 3

Hmm, I think if I were TheSTC I would try reactor Startport for Ovie hunting, maybe even double reactor Starport.  Poke with hellions, then send out two groups of Vikings and kill Ovies.

Don't know what you would transition into then though.  Maybe follow with mass Blue Flame hellions drops from multiple angles.

Ahh!  Just realized Stephano actually has a really cool placement strategy of his creep tumors!

He places them so they can't be attack easily, uses high ground placement & spines/lings/Queens.

To answer Painuser why drops are working better for Terran, is becasue this is bigger map.  Stephano needs Nydus to respond to drops on big map like this.

[Zerg players you NEED nydus to deal with drops on big maps, or tons of spines]

Stephano really needs to transition to something else, either different units or different positioning for attacks.

He keeps fighting in the center vs entrenched Terran.

[A couple of Broafester hit squads might help.]

Stephano is forced to GG

Stephano still leads series 2-1

Game 4

Stephano actually punished the CC first from Terran ecnomically buy using Roach ling, he does that on ladder.

Game was pretty much over there, Stephano had twice the economy, the elevator marine tank drop at the main was really all in last shot at the game.  TheSTC was further behind after that attack, because he had no ecnomy to start with and lost half his army trying to make something happen.

It is like in chess, when you get up an exchange, trading pieces makes you stronger.

If your behind on an exchange in chess, or SC2, you need to avoid trading pieces (Army in SC2).

Stephano wins & takes the series 3-1
