PTSL Season 2 Starts Friday September 2, 2011 at 22:00 GMT/UDT
I am really pumped for this, Team Assassins ie Catz & drewbie won Season 1, I'm hoping they will take Season 2. The stream will be here. Cool thing about this format is if watching live you can listen in to the VOIP of the teams.
For more details check out Liquidpedia. I have to say that the Destiny & Minigun team name "Guns 'n Broaches" is pretty Cool! Even Catz said is was "cute" when he was talking to Destiny one night on his stream.
I plan to cover as many of the games as I can. I will certainly be watching the whole event.
I am wondering if PZ treams might have a real edge, once some of the 2v2 elements are figured out.
Toss has hard time staying alive in early game, so ling partner could balance that with ling pressure. Till Toss can get out the power units. Infestor is such a strong unit in 2v2, fungal plus storm!!! Just seems so strong.
Or what Minigun & Destiny have done before, Infestor + Colossus. Any strong units are Neural Parasited. We will have to see what happens.

PTSL: Prodigy Team Star League Tournament Season 2
I will be covering much of, if not all of, the PTSL Season 2, I like 2v2 a lot more than 1v1. Part of that might be that Catz & drewbie tend dominate is 2v2, they took Season 1 of the PTSL. Monday or Tuesday PTSL will take over "Event Corner" of my blog. The Event Corner is located on the right side near the top, just below Blog description & the series of clocks.

The Prodigy Team Star League (PTSL) is aiming to fill the gap in the current StarCraft II© e-sports movement by introducing a premiere 2v2 tournament league. Initially started as an invitational tournament, the PTSL has since added an open bracket component in the second season and will continue to build on itself and evolve with the help of the StarCraft II© online community. As a tournament dreamt up by fans for fans, the PTSL is looking to change how 2v2 games are looked at by bringing casted high-level matches to the masses.
Tournament Breakdown:
• $1200 Season 2 prize pool: $750 First Place, $300 Second Place, $150 Third Place
• 12 Pro 2v2 Teams comprised of some of the best professional StarCraft II© players

Spanishiwa knocked out by Demuslim T_T MLG Raleigh 2011
Hope this was good enough performance for Spanishiwa to stay serious about Starcraft 2. I know a lot of people, including me, would like him to go full time as pro player.
This is lot better run than he had last MLG. Pretty sure these big events take a bit of adjustment. Just like rookies starting in the NFL.

Catz skill as Talent Scout and Coach
I think Catz is a dangerous 1v1 player, and a totally awesome 2v2 player. But I think he is an even better Talent Scout & coach.
He has a real gift for finding good players and helping them make transition from being good non or semi pro to good or even great pro.
I can remember not that long ago, watching Catz stream and he had Destiny play a bunch of games against Trimaster. This was around the time Root ended and Catz and the rest went to compLexity.
Don't think anyone had heard of him before that, I was rooting for Trimaster at last MLG. He did okay, but he is having a real stunning run at this MLG.

Replay of GAB Guns 'n Broaches vs Heros of Reach

I don't normally spend much time on Teamliquid forums, I normally hang out on the Top Splash/Home Page, Events Page, & Tournament Tracker.
But I found this thread "Story Behind Your ID" when I was learning How Catz got his name.
Really cool thread. Lots of Esports history and trivia in those stories. Also lot of factoids because of all the Nerds & Geeks.

Magic Users in 2v2: Ghost+Mothership vs Infestor + High Templar etc
Watching Kings Of Tin the other night with Catz, djWHEAT, & WackStevens playing 3v3 I saw Catz trying to get WHEAT & Wack combine Fungal then storm!
Looked really strong & actually something that would be playable in 2v2 or 3v3. They also did a Vortex & Catz fires bracket of Nukes either side of Vortex, Catz was playing random & rolled Terran for his race.
Which was cool! But I'm not so sure if that would be viable in games with roughly equal teams (skill level).
I think at pro level Ghost + Sentry could be useful.
Another idea take 2-3 Ravens + 4ish Overseers. Auto Turret the mineral line, with the Durable Materials upgrade they last for 240 seconds (4 Minutes!) vs the base 180 seconds, then Contaminate the CC/Hatch/Nexus continually.
Would provide a solid economic harass for a turtle + tech strat on shared ramp maps. If you want to get real cute you could even call down Mule to repair or follow up with Nydus.
Anyone tried any of these? Any replays? Any other good ideas?

If your having trouble watching ColCatz stream today
Catz recently moved, his new place has better primary internet service, but the primary net is down today for some reason. He is running on the backup net, which has over 200ms ping, lagging so bad he can't play Starcraft 2 today, he tried was really sad, so he has been answering some questions from chat.
Also he started drawing, for those of you that didn't know, Catz is an artist.
So if your trying to watch the stream, yes it sucks today, no Catz can't do anything about it, yes Catz is aware of the issue.

If like me you have wondered how & where Catz got his name, here is the answer:
Well I am from Peru, my last name is "Vizcarra" so my friends called me "Vizcacha" (a little rabbit like animal) and then they shortened it to "Catcha", shortly after it was "Catch" and I had a really really dumb friend, but very funny who called me "CATZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ" every time, stressing on the Z, all of my homies told him time and time again that my nickname was "Catch" and not "CatZ" but he insisted and eventually everyone gave up and started calling me "CatZ"
so.. not a cat person or anything, i dont mind cats, but my nickname came from what my friends called me and call me up until today (and none of them really play starcraft or any pc games) ~Catz Teamliquid post

Should make it a lot easier to deal with time zone issues for watching tournaments, or catching Day9 or Totalbiscuit, no matter what time zone your in yourself.
If you find any errors or would like me to add another zone for you just post a comment and I will see what I can do.
I know I am getting viewers from Australia, but your time zone is very close to KDT depending where in Australia you live. So that combined with the fact that the names with Australian time zones are confusingly similar to the ones in USA led me to leave them out for now.

I will be providing commentary on select games. I will focus on the ones I find interesting, but I try to provide good overview of events.
I find MLG's website to be horrible to navigate, even if I find something once I can't always find it a second time, and I make part of my living by finding information online. So if anyone has any hints, tricks, or suggestions for finding content on MLG website please post them.
I will be providing links for everything I find that is connected to this MLG event, Raleigh 2011, like I have for previous large events.
Like Day9, I want more people to learn about and enjoy Starcraft 2 like I do, I also want to provide a service so people don't have to be information specialist or be in the right circle of friends to here about events in time to watch them live.
Also Starcraft 2 is a world wide sport, so I am providing clocks at top of my web page for every large event's time zone. So that no matter were your located, you can click on my page and see what day, date, & time it is were SC2 event is taking place. That way you can just easily figure how many hours till the game you want to see is on the stream.
I am not trying to imitate Teamliquid's wonderful resource, they are certainly the central place to go for Starcraft information.
I am trying to build something that complements what they do, I have a much narrower focus. In addition to games and news from ColCatz & compLexity, I provide an index of resources (links to streams, schedules, VODs, etc.) & live updates for large events.

How many Starcraft 2 replays do pros watch?
I am looking for data on how many & often pros download & watch SC2 replays. I know serious pro players will watch lots of their own replays. I have watched many of them do it while they stream, I often find that more useful than just watching the game if they make the effort to explain what they are looking for, and what they learn from watching the replay.
I am hoping some pro, like Catz, Drewbie, or Destiny might see or hear about this post and be willing to comment.
I am pretty sure most pros watch replays a lot more, than they watch VOD like youtube. I suspect if someone like Idra started casting more that would get a lot more attention from pro players than the shoutcasters, as I think of them, like Husky, HD, or my favorite Totalbisquit.
Idra sees and understands Starcraft on the same level that other pro players do, I wish Idra would cast more. I find not just what he comments on helpful, but the more I hear him cast the better idea I get of just what general things I should focus on.

I like Idra better than Day9 for the smart side of casters pairs. Though Idra + Day9 as caster team might be really cool, don't think I have seen them together.
Anyone who follows my blog much knows I am not an EG fanboy, how could I be I am a Root fanboy, Complexity fanboy by adoption only.
IMO INcontrol, and Idra even more so, make better (more enjoyable) commentators or casters than players.

Roaches kill hellions & then roach push. Siege tanks on the way. Ling Speed finishes.
Sheth takes down rocks at his gold. Sheth takes gold as his 3rd.
Drops starting, baneling speed researching.
Spire going up. Sheth taking his 4th. Mutas incoming, burrow and roach speed being researched.
First big battle in the middle looks like Sheth lost focus or something.. Select has clear lead.

15 Hatch, then pool, then gas. Gas steal by Sheth. Select goes reactored hellions, again.

I have been trying to follow Goody, I find him an interesting pro player. He shows that you don't need 300 APM to be a pro, just good timing and understanding.
I have replays on my machine, not VOD, were he takes down Catz & Idra easily, which is no easy thing. Most people would probably say Idra is the strongest player of the 3, though IMO it is more complicated than that.
In a straight up game I would say that might be true, but Catz is the most innovative of the 3 IMO. Also I don't think Idra could do as well with the APM the Goody has himself.
Anyway, the fact that Goody could beat Catz who does unique things & Idra who is a strong solid player that focues on Macro and Machanics, demonstrates IMO that Goody's style of play is also viable.

MLG Replay, well VODs best can do here is link to all of them
According to MLG this is link to all VODs in order. Just what they casted for the event, none of the games that were played off stage. I will keep looking for and posting links to all of those other games that I can find. In addition I will still be posting links to individual games of interest to me from the MLG site.
VOD link is also on right side of the blog.
FYI, they are unwatchable on my (old) desktop my CPU or graphics card can't handle how they have the stream set up. It looks like real bad lag, I tried to lower quality but it won't let me change the setting, which might just be my computer.
Stream is fine on my laptop, my gaming machine, just figured I would give people a heads up.

MLG Anaheim VOD
I will be putting up links to VODs starting later today or tomorrow, a few are already out, if there are any you are having trouble finding a specific game or match up, post about it here and I will see if I can find it for you.
Just in case anyone from MLG takes a look at this page I, and others, would be willing to pay more for replays than stream or VODs.
Because of time zone issues for Europe and Korea your also missing out on large part of your potential market. Your simply not giving them ability to buy your product. Not all SC2 fans are English. Not even sure if majority of SC2 fans are native english speakers even if they know some english. So VODs by english speaking casters are probably not going to be a big draw to them.

MLG Anaheim replays
MLG says they won't release them, their statement here, I have very strong doubts about the factual basis of their statement.
Plenty of players and events release replay packs, so I suspect real answer is something else.
Probably money.
I note they are not offering replays with memberships either, or at least they are not mentioning them on their website, I was going to get a membership till I realized it was auto renew with no opt out.
I would have been willing to pay more for one time fee to have MLG Anaheim only video pass, especially if I could watch replays.
I am getting to the point that even the best casters just can't do good enough job covering game for me to LEARN from them. They can only cover one spot of the map at a time, and they haven't worked replays into esports yet like they do NFL (American) Football to be sure fans watching get to see important or exciting replay.
Please note, I am not knocking the casters. When I watch good replays, I often will go over certain parts 2-4 times frequently to figure out exactly what happened, I want to see what each player was actually looking at during each moment, what Production tab shows, what the upgrades where for various units. Also what income is at, what they are spending money on, etc.
Sometimes when there is something new, or new to me I may go over one little slice of time in the game many many times to determine all I possibly can.
But then like Day9 & Spanishiwa, among I suspect many other SC2 players and fans, I came to SC2 from competitive Chess background. Analyzing games is something I have lot of practice with, one of the very cool to me things about SC2 over Chess is games are recorded as video, not notes of describing every piece being moved, so I can focus on what happened and why. I don't have to keep looking at the recorded moves and move the pieces on a board to see everything. Note to hardcore chess players, yes I know many really good chess players can see the image looking at the notation but I have never been able to get the visual and verbal parts of my brain to connect internally like that.
I am real disappointed with the no replay being released from MLG, I think that is totally wrong move for SC2.
If there is a legitimate DOS [Denial of Service] issue why can't they work with Bllizard or some experts to find a way around that issue?
