Nerd Gear: Computer Cases Cosmos II vs Thor 2 vs Obsidian 650D

Still working on ideas for gaming computer for girlfriend, so that we can game together, we only have one machine that can handle much in the way of games at the moment, here are some of the cases I looked at today:

Nerd Gear: The Difference i5 vs i7

This is the best article I have found for clearly explaning the difference between an i5 cpu and an i7 CPU http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2404674,00.asp

I don't know if it will help if your comparing a something like a laptop with  http://ark.intel.com/products/50072/Intel-Core-i5-2540M-Processor-3M-Cache-up-to-3_30-GHz  to one with http://ark.intel.com/products/52231/Intel-Core-i7-2620M-Processor-4M-Cache-up-to-3_40-GHz?

Or similar gap for a desktop.

I think for most people the i5 is going to be a better choice, if you want or need an i7 then by all means get one.

This is something I agonized over for at least 3-4 weeks before getting my newest computer.

I am not a bleeding edge gamer, I don't do video editing, and while I will probably do some video editing sooner or later, it will only be occasionally, not every day.

Based on that, I couldn't think of a situation were I personally would be limited by a fast i5 and not with an i7 CPU.

So I decided to go with i5 quad core that runs at 3.1 GHz, a good but not great GPU, and only 4 GB of RAM.

Except for the RAM, which I am planning on upgrading to 16 GB on my birthday, this has worked out very well

I am using more than 90% of my RAM on a daily basis, so going to upgrade it to 16 GB so I don't have to worry about it.

OWC also has excellent installation videos, cause let face it, most Apple Computers are not Noob Friendly for hardware upgrading.

Though you can generally upgrade HDD or SSD on Apple Laptops easily.

Think I will try these out, my girlfriend does a lot of craft stuff, she said she has used Perler Beads before.

They are intended to make decorations, then you run an Iron over them to heat them enough that they stick together.

So you can easily use up the extras in some creative way.

Could make SC2 critters or vehicles out of them, thinking like a BC or Mothership, not to mention your favorite Comic or Pokeman.

I have bad Asthma/Allergies, this will really help with some air quality issues for me. 

Both for warning when my local air quality is bad, Ozone detection/warning will be very useful for my Asthma issues, and also to help me better determine just what triggers are a problem.

Also as a Star Trek fan, TNG is my favorite, this will let you turn a Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note 2, Nexus 7, iPod Touch, or other iOS device into something like a real Tricorder.

I have a buddy that is a computer nerd that has one of the older ASUS gaming machines, he has been happy with it, only complaint I remember him mentioning is that keyboard could get hot while gaming, but the current ASUS gaming machines have a much improved cooling setup from the reviews I have read, believe it even has removable cleanable Air filters, so you don't need to take it apart as often to clean out airflow path.

I have been using 13" ASUS UL30V for two years, runs SC2 on med settings fine, and I have worked it hard blogging, was running a 23" & a 15" external monitors at home for about 6 months till I got my iMac for blogging.

So I personally have confidence in ASUS laptops, ASUS was one of the brands one of my Computer Nerd buddies suggested when I told him I was looking for laptops, I have been very happy with it.
