Computer Desk of the Week: A Treadmill Desk

This is a little less cool Computer Desk of the Week (CDotW), than a health and nerd level detail based desk.

http://www.npr.org/blogs/health/2012/11/19/165293511/can-you-move-it-and-work-it-on-a-treadmill-desk

The pictures in article linked above come from SALO, http://www.salollc.com/, a company that participated in a study done my Mayo Clinic.

The Treadmill Desk was conceived by James A. Levine, M.D., Ph.D. a doctor with May Clinic,  Youtube presentation by Doctor Levine below.

Keyword or Key Terms:  Magic Underwear,  NEAT, Gruve

Non-exercise Activity Thermogenesis  (NEAT) [Thermogenesis=body generating heat]

There are also, snippet from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thermogenesis,

Computer Desk of the Week (CDotW): Workstation & Gaming Rig

http://extremerigs.blogspot.com/p/build-log-project-thief-tx10-monster.html

I use the Computer Desk of the Week posts to showcase both PC builds and Desks, plus the occasional PC build that builds the PC into the Desk!

If link above doesn't work, that blog is a little strange, then click on this link http://www.extremerigs.net/ and select "Build Log: Project Thief - TX10 Monster Dual Workstation/Gaming" from the "Pages" section at left side of blog.

He is also posting about it on this forum http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/showthread.php?t=158816

Computer Desk of the Week (CDotW)

This week's desk of the week is a loft, but it still has room for three 27" screens http://lifehacker.com/5952844/the-lofted-workspace

Quote from link above with specs & bit more:
"liquid cooled 6 core, 64 gb RAM custom machine and 3x 27" Achieva Shimian Korean IPS displays. These are mounted to the wall with monitor arms and can be pulled closer to the edge of the table if needed. The setup works really well for my 3d modeling and coding work"

Nerd Gear: Color Coding Cord Clutter

Neat, simple, and cheap way to Color Code Cords http://lifehacker.com/5945924/color+code-cables-on-the-cheap-with-perler-beads

Bascially you use a cheap Perler bead, cut one side with scissors or razor blade, and then snap it over cord.  Perler website http://www.eksuccessbrands.com/perlerbeads/

You can buy a 1000 count bag for a few dollars at Amazon, I am Amazon Associate so I make a tiny bit of money if you buy with my Amazon links, Perler Beads

They also have Glow in the Dark Perler Beads

You could even use multi beads of different colors for some serious Geek Cred, by using Electronic Color Code like used on resisters and such http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_color_code

That would be really cool for some custom computer builds.

Think I will try these out, my girlfriend does a lot of craft stuff, she said she has used Perler Beads before.

They are intended to make decorations, then you run an Iron over them to heat them enough that they stick together.

So you can easily use up the extras in some creative way.

Could make SC2 critters or vehicles out of them, thinking like a BC or Mothership, not to mention your favorite Comic or Pokeman.

Check out this Pokeman made with Perler Beads on this VOD by zzezah, you can follow zzezah at http://www.youtube.com/user/zzezah/featured
