Watching Liquid Hero Stream
He is using Phoenix opening a fair bit today, makes me happy.
I think Phoenix openings have potential to be one of the strongest, for offensive style openings, of openings Protoss can use.
I consider Forge Fast Expand (FFE) as a passive or defensive opening, doesn't mean it is bad, but I personally I prefer Offensive openings.

Starcraft 2 Thoughts: Better Stargate Opening
In this PvZ matchup, Titan vs Hyun, cast by Crota, we see a stronger stargate opening than typical out of Toss.
I think some Toss are starting to figure out that Phoenix are much stronger than Voidrays in the early game.
Though as a rule I dislike Stargate openings vs Zerg, the Stargate opening in this game is about as strong as you can make it. But I do agree with Crota, that Zerg also made some mistakes defending.
We see some elements that Elfi has used before, which are similar to style of play I have suggested for PvT.

Learning Starcraft 2: Mech vs Protoss
LiquidHerO vs Dandelion cast by Duckvillelol
Back in State of the Game #59, Day9 suggested that Terran's had perhaps not experimented enough with Mech vs Protoss, I have blogged about this a few times, click SOTG 59, to see all my posts on that.
My comments with spoilers below the VOD.
There were some things I really didn't like about Hero's base layout in this game, I would have like to see the Cybernetics Core less exposed to drops or Banshee harass, and I didn't like the 3 Gates behind the Natural's mineral line.
There are things I do really like about Hero's base layout, I liked Templar tech placement & Robo placement in his Natural, I think Tech structures should always be as far from the enemy as practical, unless you want them to scout some tech, ie if your try to fake them out.
I also realized the reason for the 3 Gates in the Natural's mineral line were probably to hide the 4 Gate pressure Hero was doing in the early game.
That early 4 Gate attack did some serious damage, more to Terran's timing than to economy, but that was still important.
I would like to see some more Mech vs Protoss games from this Terran, I think the game would have been a lot different if he didn't suffer that damage from the early 4 Gate.
I do think Mech vs Protoss should use blue flame Hellion drops in addition to Banshee Harass, though I am still not sure if Mech vs Protoss is truly viable.

Hero vs Virus
Liquid Hero vs Startale Virus cast by RageQuitTV
A very good game, the players are both very good and evenly matched.
I especially liked the early Warp Prism play by Hero.

Starcraft 2 Thoughts: NesTea vs Hero!
Hero looks like a much stronger player vs NesTea in this VOD, than he does vs Puma to me, now I am starting to wonder if he has a mental block or something vs Puma.
IMHO Nestea is a much stronger player than Puma. Yet Hero looks to be near equal skill to NesTea in this game, with no cheese or anything of that sort.
This is a good game cast by NuubCast, NuubCast normally focus on lower level games, but he jumped on the chance to cast this game!
My thoughts about the game below embed VOD (Spoiler Alert).
My comment(s) on the game are below, so don't read below this if you don't want spoiler.
There is one thing that Nestea does in this game that reall frustrates me, other high level Zerg do it to, though I don't know why, they build up this ridiculous Bank!?!
There are several things Zerg could do with that Bank, they can build a lot of Spines and few Spores, like Stephano does.
Or they could throw more Hatches down, they only cost 300 minerals, and using one to block enemy's 4th or 5th expo location would make a lot of sense to me, and you would still get the larva.
Should really get duplicate Tech Structures at a distant Expo!!!!!
Or another interesting idea, get baneling nest with Baneling speed upgrade and couple extra Macro Hatches, when armies are traded remax on lings, and go attack all enemy Expos at same time, making Banes as needed to crack walls.

Starcraft 2 Skills: PvT Beating Bio with Phoenix & Drop
Puma vs Hero game below for illustration, cast by NanMan, note this is not a DreamHack game.
My comments are below the VOD. I will also be referring to some of my earlier Starcraft 2 Skills posts: Clearing defenses for Drop, and PvT Beating Bio.
This is a follow up to my previous PvT Beating Bio post, the previous post covered a DT/Zealot approach. This covers a Phoenix opening, with a high level game that clearly illustrated the opportunity that Phoenix play can create. I think of this as a Phoenix/Zealot approach.
I like the Phoenix play, seems like Protoss in general are starting to realize the power of the Phoenix. They are one of the very few Toss units that can be effective in small numbers. Other main unit Protoss has that works well in small numbers is the Dark Templar of course, see PvT Beating Bio for some of my thoughts on DT. I think a very strong case can be made that most Protoss builds should involve early Phoenix or DT.
Phoenix play generally gives Protoss control of the Air, which creates a weakness that can be exploited by drop play. After his successful Phoenix harass, Hero should have gone Robo for Warp Prism, instead of the Twilight Council into HT that he did.
With a Warp Prism, Hero could have done Zealot drops into the main, to build on the success of his Phoenix play. Followed by Colossus if needed for late game. That would have been a LOT stronger.
At ~11:33 in the Puma vs Hero game above, Hero starts a Twilight Council which costs 150 Minerals 100 gas 50 seconds to build, he could have got a Robo for 200 Minerals 100 gas 65 seconds by just delaying the probe he started before the TC.
At ~12:47 Hero does another attack at the main with 6-7 Phoenix, which is completely successful. But imagine how much more damage would have been done if he dropped 4 Zealots into the main to support the Phoenix! He would have only been risking cheap (mineral only) units, additionally the Zealots would have been able to provide rear guard if needed to save the more expensive Phoenix!
Note, even unsupported the Phoenix were able to camp in Puma's Main till ~14:06 with even 4 Zealots supporting the Phoenix in the main Puma would have had to pull most or all of his army.
I really think that would have easily been GG, since Hero would have been able to at least deny Puma's 3rd, maybe even kill the Main or Natural with Force Field block of the ramp. I can't see any real obvious defenses for Puma to Robo into drop play if it started at the 12:47 mark. I got this idea from the game I covered in Clearing defenses for Drop.
Even if defended, it would have given Hero time to get Colossus out, with more than enough Phoenix to deal with any realistic numbers of Vikings that Puma could have produced. And a serious economic lead.
Subtle Tip: if Hero had followed Phoenix play with Warp Prism drops, it would have been very efficient to get Air Armor Upgrade at the Cybernetics Core. Not only does this benefit all Air Units (including the Prism), but it gets more value/use out of the Core, and provides a high value use for Chronoboost.
It would have been a better choice for the Minerals/Gas than the +1 Attack Hero startred at ~11:32 right after +1 ground Armor finished (also same time he started Twilight Council).
The only Protoss units that benefit significantly, at least against Terran, from attack upgrades are Dark Templar & Immortals, and to a much lesser extent Colossus. A Phoenix actually has more life at 120 HP/60 Shield than a Zealot 100 HP/ 50 Shield.

IPL3 Sleep (Z) vs Hero (P)
I am liking Sleep's Muta/Hydra play.
I have been telling Zerg players for some time that Hydra were under used, they always whine and say hydras are to slow, though they are same speed as Zealots (before charge upgrade) or Marines/Marauders (when not stimmed).
Sleep is the first player I have actually seen that really seems to have a real well thought out method of using them.
He uses the Muta's mobility to draw enemy out of position, while the ling/Hydra keep striving for position.
Nice transition into Broodlord Infestor, with Ultra to follow that up, wish i could see all the upgrades he chose.
He was upgrading the Air Attacks, Mutas had +2 attack when broodlords came out he got +3 attack.
I'm guessing he is upgrading Melee attack and Air Attack, because that really boosts the Broodlords, plus the melee upgrades allow for stronger tech switch/transition to Ultras. The Ultras work better vs smaller armies, because they have splash if they get surround they will do a lot of DPS with splash, plus Broodlords force Stalkers and HT. The Ultras do good vs smaller numbers of Stalkers with ling or Infestor support.
Really cool Game 2, wish I would have seen Game 1, or more than the last half of Game 2.
I think adding some Queens would have helped for Transfuse on the Mutas, and creep spread, the Mutas were doing a good job of pinning Protoss in his bases and giving map control. Creep spread would have really boosted the power of the Hydras.
I would have also liked to see a Nydus, more for withdrawing Hydras or dropping an offensive worm somewhere the Mutas flew over.
Muta/ling plus Nydus has a lot of synergy. Been waiting to see that, saw it for the first time a week or two ago, some Korean (I think) Zerg used it against Grubby. First time they used against Grubby he was forced to GG. Second time he was more prepared for it, but it still seemed very viable.
